What color is human blood?
I have recently been in a debate about the color of human blood. Some claim that it is blue inside the body, and once you get a cut the blood that comes out is red. I have always though blood was red. Inside or outside. I remember watching little videos in elementary school showing the close up patterns of your heart beet. The videos were always showing the little red circles moving and stopping like a traffic light. Is blood red or blue? Please explain your reasoning. An ignorant answer is not appreciated.
It’s red. The ‘once it hits oxygen it turns blue’ myth is just that, a myth. People may think it’s blue because of the coloring of veins in the skin, but thats due to the vein tissue itself, not the RED blood cells.
If you repost this question in the medicine catagory, a doctor or other notable health professional will definately confirm that red blood cells are indeed red inside the body.
